Gershon Marinbach

Gershon Marinbach (1914-1993) was born in Gomel, Russia, and immigrated to the United States at the age of nine. Raised on the lower East Side of Manhattan which teemed with Jewish immigrants, he received both a sound Jewish and secular education, graduating from the City College of New York as a history major. A certified Public Accountant with a vibrant private practice, he also was Professor of Accounting at the Manhattan Community College—a job he adored, because he loved to teach. Upon retiring, Gershon and his wife, Leila, came to live in Israel in 1977, joining their two children who had preceded them by several years. He made his home in Kfar Saba, quickly becoming involved in charitable causes, his synagogue and helping new immigrants. He received, together with his wife, the Zeev Geller award for volunteering in Kfar Saba. He was a humorist and contributed a monthly column, "Nu, I ask You", for the Young Israel Viewpoint Newsletter. He is remembered fondly by all who knew him and many who were helped by him.
